A river of blood, trees with veins sticking out from it, a cave entrance that looks like a gaping maw...

This is what'd I'd consider to be dread in biome form, but perfected in a way pixel art can capture. It'd be great to build an evil lair in... that is, if the Crimson wasn't out to kill whoever sets foot in it.
